HISTORY
The Boise Women’s Hockey Association (BWHA) was organized circa 1998 to introduce the confidence building sport of ice hockey to Boise girls and women. While some BWHA members grew up playing hockey, a majority of the members are new to the sport, having watched their spouses, children or friends play. From that small start with one team, the local women’s hockey program has grown to a 4 team recreational league, as well as several travel teams, who practice and travel to tournaments throughout the northwest. We are thrilled that the league continues to grow each season!
As a non-profit 501c3 organization, BWHA hosts such annual events as Hockey 101 (where a majority of us got started in the sport!), Learn to Skate sessions for Girl Scouts, and a series of co-ed games for our Cancer Skate fundraiser. These activities are funded in part by member dues, but would not be possible without community support and year-round fundraising.
WINE, WOMEN, & HOCKEY
Our Wine, Women, & Hockey event is our primary fundraiser. This event generates the funds that allows us to continue our charity work and to introduce the confidence building spirit of team sport to girls and women in our area.
That said, the 2009 BWHA Board of Directors enthusiastically invites you to join us on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Legends Sports Pub & Grill from 4-8 pm for an evening of merriment and laughter. There will be much wine tasting, food, raffles prizes, and fantastic silent auction items. Tickets are only $10 per person!
Wine tasting, eating, and prize give-aways will continue throughout the evening,
while the silent auction tables will close on a staggered schedule. Many tv
screens are located in Legends bar and restaurant for those
of you who just can’t miss a game!
BWHA players are currently pounding the pavement in search of new
and exciting items for the silent auction. Please visit the Auction Items link,
